Here’s what looks good to me for this week…
NEW TRAILER OF THE WEEK
I linked a bunch of trailers in my Oscar Movie Preview Part 1 post earlier this week and I’ll have more next week!
SONG OF THE WEEK
I can’t believe we’re getting a 12th album from Taylor Swift, The Life of a Showgirl, out October 3. I’M THRILLED that she’s going back to producers Max Martin and Shellback for this one which means I hope we get songs like: Style, Blank Space, I Did Something Bad, and Shake It Off.
STREAMING PREVIEW
Here’s what looks good on TV this week. Click the title to watch the trailer…
SAT, AUG 16
-The Rainmaker (Peacock). Based on John Grisham’s legal thriller from 1995, this is a David vs Goliath story of a young lawyer (Milo Callaghan) taking on a big legal firm in court (headed by John Slattery) and uncovering a conspiracy.
TUE, AUG 19
-Devo Documentary (Netflix). I love this band!!! Netflix bought this at Sundance where it got great reviews.
WED, AUG 20
-The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox (Hulu). Grace Van Patten plays Amanda Knox in this ‘based on a true story’ drama about her being convicted (she was eventually acquitted) of killing her roommate while studying in Italy.
THU, AUG 21
-Hostage (Netflix). This 5 part thriller series stars Suranne Jones and Julie Delpy as the newly elected leaders of Britain and France, respectively. Sounds good to me!
BOOK PREVIEW - SEP 16 RELEASES (I preview a month ahead so you can get library holds in early!)
-The Academy by Elin Hilderbrand and Shelby Cunningham. I’m excited for her to get out of Nantucket and see what else she can do. Plus it’s interesting that she wrote this with her daughter. Here’s the description, “a dishy, page-turning novel following an intertwined cast of characters over the course of one drama-filled year at a New England boarding school.”
-Night People: How to Be a DJ in '90s New York City by Mark Ronson. You know how I feel about music so this one is at the top of my list. Here’s the description, “From Mark Ronson, one of the most distinguished musical influencers of our time, comes a memoir that captures the music, characters, escapades, and energy of his DJ days in '90s New York.”
-The Vanishing Place by Zoe Rankin. I like to read murders and thrillers set in other countries. Here’s the description, “A shocking murder in the New Zealand bush—and the witness who looks all too familiar—draws a woman back to the very place she swore she’d never return to in this breakneck debut thriller.”
The twisted tale of Amanda Knox looks good! Im looking forward to Academy since I’m a EH fan.
